This was painted using some of my favourite elements of Winter landscapes: Chinks of light showing through skeletal trees, long winter shadows, the grey of damp days and the sharpness of frosty ones. I have used a cold wax medium with the oil paint which allows me to build up textures and scratch into it to reveal the layers beneath. The additional photographs show close ups of the intricate details.
